Then the new Mountain Bike course could be for you ...

Off Road Training and Pricing Structure

The CTC's new Off Road 3 tier training courses are aimed primarily at beginners and novices, specifically targeting techniques to break down the core skills needed in mountain biking.  Sessions will involve safety checks, health checks, bike clothing checks, warms ups, main set, cooling downs, evaluations and setting realistic goals to aim for in any subsequent sessions.

Naturally things such as the age, ability, skills, fitness and size of any groups are all factors taken into consideration along any equipment (bikes) being used plus of course, the weather forecast and condition of both the ground and the trails are all very much a part of the risk assessment process.  Prices start from £20 pp per hour with discount given for groups.

Prior to the session you will be asked what exactly you want to achieve from the training and any previous experience you have off road/cycling if any so that sessions can be planned and tailored realistically, to help you achieve your specific goals.  Where there are a group of people training together with mixed abilities, then activities to suit everyone would need to be prepared prior to the commencement of the session.

Holiday activity groups sessions are available on request starting from £35 pp for half day sessions - Weekend sessions can also be arranged on request, the cost of which is available on application.  Generally speaking courses are based on a one day training programme.  For Individual 1:1 Tuition the methods used are tailor made to your individual needs although the same principles will apply vs. activities for a group to achieve the same objectives. Also we take as much or as little time as any one individual needs., there are no maximums as everyone is different.

Through Roj you can avail yourself of their camp site (Elm Farm), alternatively the farmhouse bed and breakfast facility which Karen runs and they have bikes available for hire as well.  Roj is also a fully qualified SMBLA Mountain Bike Leader which is recognised by the British Cycling Federation.  He is more than happy to take you out on the Coast to Coast trail, whether just as a ride leader, for a taster session or to hone up your skills, all of which is available through The Bike Barn.  Additionally that maintenance course we talked of, again Roj can help you out there too!!
